Once the chaos and the dust have settled, time to land that ship safely on the moon with this featured playlist. Sometimes, it would take a while, especially on congested landing strips but this will surely help you navigate through a stormy flight. So, calm yourself with some ultra-soft tunes to tickle your earbuds.
10.000 Emerald Pools by Blank & Jones feat. Zoe Dee
German electronic music duo, Blank & Jones, released its 26th album called Relax Edition 10 during the third quarter of 2017. In addition, the album included 10.000 Emerald Pools sung by Zoe Dee. This piano-based song will surely take you on a gentle but deep dive underwater. Furthermore, watch aquatic life or maybe even a mysterious woman wearing a long silky dress dance in slow motion as Zoe lull you with her magical voice.
Pressure by Milk & Bone
Another electropop duo based in Montreal, Milk & Bone, released its first and most heartfelt album in 2015. Little Mourning also included an alluring song called Pressure. Certainly, their voices almost feel like soft hands slowly pulling you deeper as you get sucked into a sinking bed.
Sunglassey by Akiine
Akiine released Horses On A Beach back in 2014. Moreover, this four-track EP would make you want to take your clothes off and run to the nearest forest. The marimba in Sunglassey also undeniably highlighted that tropical shroomy adventure vibe right off the bat.
To Build A Home by The Cinematic Orchestra feat. Patrick Watson
Released as a second single from Ma Fleur album in 2007, To Build a Home made its way to TV series such as Grey’s Anatomy, One Tree Hill, Suits, Orange is the New Black. If you haven’t listened to it yet, this song delivers a warm security blanket that would make you feel hopeful for the future regardless of your relationship status. The flutter of the piano will surely activate those butterflies in your stomach.
Moments by Take/Five
Take/Five released Found Footage album back in 2017 that will also take you on a mini trip. Ending it with Moments completes the whole trip further revealing the perfect landing spot. Firstly, the intro would feel like a walk down an oriental forest approaching those big tropical leaves to unveil a choir of angels singing as you lift up to the sky. Finally, a comforting sample of Delete’s The World is Yours will welcome you to the other side.
Marguerite by Made in Heights
Made in Heights released their self titled album in 2012 and became an instant addition to indie pop playlists after that. Before they dipped into a bit darker songs as Murakami, the group played soft layers of sorbet textures coupled with Kelsey Bulkin’s ethereal voice. In other words, Marguerite encapsulated that perfect baby blue sky morning sunshine glow.
Barricade (Matter of Fact) by Yumi Zouma
Meanwhile, best for inflight tunes, the playlist featured a song from Yumi Azouma’s debut album Yoncalla (2016). Barricade (Matter Of Fact) runs with a chill yet still danceable tempo. Despite its wet synth approach, it’s perfect for looking out the plane window to watch the visually stimulating cloud formations from above.
Degrees of Light by Taylor McFerrin
Taylor McFerrin released his debut studio album, Early Riser, in 2014 with a bit of dystopian feel but fighting to reach the light at the end of the tunnel. Degrees of Light will particularly make you feel like you stepped into a MirrorMask world full of strobe lights and fluid metal ships from the Flight of the Navigator.
Swimming Stone by 20syl
Following to number nine on my featured playlist, Electro hip-hop artist 20syl released his 2nd EP, Motifs II, in 2015. Subsequent to Motifs and in just a year later, the EP included the song Swimming Stone. The song presented a mysterious looking realm further oozing with refined 8-bit tunes and tiny synth droplets towards the end.
Can’t Buy Happiness by Tash Sultana
Finally, I saved the best of this featured playlist for last. Undoubtedly, Tash Sultana’s soul exploding song Can’t Buy Happiness, is by far one of the best songs to reflect on as you dissect your journey. Also, her ultra-filtered voice will echo inside your head as she sings on top of her lungs up to the end of the song.
